Leicester return to Premier League action Monday, just days after parting company with Claudio Ranieri, the Italian manager who guided the East Midlands club to its first league title last year.
Taking over the reins, at least for this game, is assistant manager Craig Shakespeare. He will be hoping the turmoil surrounding the club is really much ado about nothing and the team’s defending is not a comedy of errors. (You see what I’ve done there!)
That said, he has a tough gig to break a five match losing streak in the league as Liverpool come to town fresh off a two week break, much of which was spent in the warmth of southern Spain.
It’s true the Reds have had difficulty dispatching some lower ranked teams this season–as Burnley, Swansea and Bournemouth will no doubt testify–but Jurgen Klopp’s heavy pressing team tends to do well when well rested.
Now punters won’t get rich on the 4/6 widely on offer for Liverpool to win this game, so it might be worth looking more widely for a bet.
Paddy Power are offering an enhanced 33/1 that Sadio Mane scores in each half. (Look at the Analytics page for a more detailed breakdown of the value implied by these odds.)
The Senegalese winger took some time to get back into his stride after returning from the African Nations Cup in late January, but looked electric in Liverpool’s win over Spurs last time out.
I’ll be banking on Sadio, and hoping all’s well that ends well.
Recommendation: Sadio Mane to score in both halves 33-1 Paddy Power
