Sterling to Offer an Assist

The late Premier League game Sunday sees high-flying Manchester City travel to the Stadium of Light to take on Sunderland.

City seem to have rediscovered their mojo after something of a mid-season blip, winning their last three League games and also spanking five past Monaco in the Champions League.

By contrast, Sunderland have lost their last two games and only won one of their last nine.

One way to play this seeming mismatch is to bet on Man City’s winger Raheem Sterling, who is now in prime form, assisting the scoring of a goal at any time during the game.

Taking an analytical view, Sterling has assisted nine times in the 23 games he has started this season – that roughly equates to the 5/2 which Paddy Power offers.

However, those odds represent a season’s performance. Looking at the last ten games,  Sterling has provided an assist in 6–that’s a 4/6 shot–and if you factor in Sunderland’s (lack of) ability then we compute that moves to 1/2.

This looks a Sterling bet.

Recommendation: Sterling to assist a goal at any time at 5/2 Paddy Power
