I’m sure most of us of any sort of vintage can remember the song “Last Night a DJ Saved My Life” by the American group Indeep.
I bring it up because I found myself singing the chorus to myself as Dustin Johnson calmly played a tricky shot from a fairway bunker to the 18th green to win the WGC event in Mexico by one shot Sunday.
This meant that subscribers who had followed the Lap of The Odds blog last week were able to collect some cash. (Johnson, Garcia to Enjoy Mexican Fiesta)
Now it’s true Sergio Garcia faded away after a promising start, and Rory McIlroy played a lot better than we expected (Take Rickie Over Rory), but the 7/1 available on DJ meant we were still nicely ahead based on level stakes.
That makes me start singing another famous chorus line from a similar era, this time from ABBA, “Money, Money, Money.”
