Six Nations Rugby: Ireland to Enjoy Welsh Hospitality

The Six Nations rugby tournament returns from its small break, with the Irish travelling to Cardiff to take on a dispirited Welsh side.

Hordes of thirsty rugby fans pouring into Cardiff city centre on a Friday evening – the bar owners must be rubbing their hands with glee. But they will probably be the only Welshmen looking forward to the visit of the Irish.

After a hard-won victory over Italy in the opening round of the tournament, Wales earned some praise with the manner of their defeat by defending champions England. That goodwill largely disappeared with a feeble defeat to Scotland last time out, the first time Wales had lost to Scotland in a decade.

It’s true Ireland also lost to Scotland at Murrayfield, but the performances from the men in green have shown a steady improvement since then. A trashing of Italy was followed by victory over a powerful French side.

Ireland face the currently undefeated England on the last weekend of the series, and will fully believe they are still in with a chance of winning the tournament. So Wales have to be defeated, and bonus points could also be important.

Ireland are the favourites–around 4/6–but another way to look at the match is via the winning margin market. Bet365 offers 15/4 that Ireland win by 13 points or more.

Recommendation: Ireland beat Wales by 13 points or more at 15/4 Bet365
