FA Cup: A Sterling Bet

The FA Cup takes precedent over league football this weekend, with Manchester City travelling to Middlesbrough for an early afternoon clash today.

The bet that springs to mind with this clash is City winger Raheem Sterling to assist in the scoring of a goal at any time, widely quoted at 5/2.

Those of you who regularly follow Lap of The Odds might think this bet suggestion is familiar, (Sterling to Offer an Assist), well as the Yankees great Yogi Berra once said, “it’s like deja vu all over again.”

We suggested the bet again midweek, (Sterling to Assist Again), but it was made void by City manager Pep Guardiola resting the winger, a decision he probably regretted as his team stuttered to a goalless draw.

Looking at the statistics, Sterling has created a goal in seven of his last 11 league games and five out of the last six in the FA Cup. This all suggests 5/2 is a very healthy price.

We make no apology for suggesting the bet again, after all, it ain’t over till it’s over.

Recommendation: Sterling to assist a goal at 5/2, Paddy Power
