The FA Cup quarter-finals conclude tonight, with the pick of the round – a clash between league leaders and seven times winner Chelsea and Manchester United, winners of the trophy on a record 12 occasions and the defending champions.
Chelsea start as favourites, given their impressive form in the league this season. The London club are currently 10 points clear at the top of the Premier League, and put today’s rivals to the sword in the equivalent league game earlier this season, winning 4-0.
Adding to United’s worries is the absence, through suspension, of top scorer and talisman Zlatan Ibrahimovic. United have relied heavily upon him for goals this season–he has scored 26, with Juan Mata the next highest on nine–and will thus miss his firepower.
That said, United’s coach Jose Mourinho will be determined not to suffer the same humiliating rout as he returns to his former stamping ground.
Expect a tight affair.
From a betting point of view, a narrow home win looks likely. Best prices of 5/1 on a 1-0 win by Chelsea could be the way to play this game.
Recommendation: Chelsea to win 1-0 at 5/1, generally available
