Ludlow & Wolves: Yankee Doodle…

You probably couldn’t get much more of a contrast than between the Ludlow countryside track (does a nice cup of tea) and the metropolitan dirt-fest at Wolverhampton (does a nice curry pie). However, the not-so-identical Midland twins each provide a pair of picks for what promises to be a sweet Thursday Yankee.

On the dirt, Knightsbridge Liam (1525 GMT) showed promise on his first handicap, and can improve further for the added distance. He looks to have more chance to improve than his market rivals.

Shortly afterwards, Cappananty Con (1600) returns to the track of his last success. A strongly-run race should suit, and his powerful jockey can drive him home with a late run.

Over at Ludlow, the 2m handicap chase (1610) should be a tear-up with several out and out trailblazers. Favourite Speredek has a lot to prove upped in class and likely to be taken on up front, and Red Spinner, fifth in a Grand Annual at Cheltenham this time last year, can show his class to win.

The following Ludlow hunter chase (1640) looks at the mercy of in-form Galway Jack, and whilst he will be a short-priced favourite, he can double up our returns and round off a tasty yankee.

Recommendation: A WIN YANKEE: Knightsbridge Liam (1525 Wolverhampton) 9/2;  Cappananty Con (1600 Wolverhampton) 7/2; Red Spinner (1610 Ludlow) 11/4;  Galway Jack (1640 Ludlow) 11/10.
