A topsy-turvy week on the horses was looking more turvy than topsy after selection Midnight Monty was pulled up halfway through the 1430 race at Newbury looking as enthusiastic as his Lap Of the Odds followers. But then….
….if in doubt, reach for the Beer Goggles. Our 14/1 pick (backed in to an SP of 10/1) (Newbury Races: Make That a Double), confirmed the promise of his last run, in a race that had worked out really well, with an easy win in the 1505 race.
Always going well for jockey Daryl Jacob, he could be called the winner from a long way out and duly scooted home to cries of relief/joy at Lap of the Odds HQ.
That sets us up nicely for a racing weekend that promises to include both more Newbury action and the Dubai World Cup meeting.
