Pakistan face the West Indies Thursday in the second instalment of the four match series in Trinidad, having dispatched the hosts with ease in the first game on Sunday.
In the first game in Barbados, Pakistan restricted the holders of the World T20 crown to just 111 in their 20 overs, before cruising home to win by six wickets.
A lack of runs from the Windies’ top order was also a feature of England’s 3-0 victory in the 50 overs series earlier this year, prompting us at Lap of the Odds to suggest a middle order batsman to be the team’s top scorer. (Look to Mohammed…)
Looking at the odds for the same bet this time around, something shines as a bit of a pricing anomaly. Stan James is offering 50/1 than Sunil Narine is the top scorer for the hosts, a higher price than any other bookie. Paddy Power is as short as 11/1.
More renowned for his bowling, Narine surprised with his batting prowess in the recent Pakistan Super League, scoring 116 runs with a strike rate of over 180, including 11 sixes. He also batted at the six position in the first T20.
A speculative bet, to be sure, but at 50/1….
Recommendation: Narine to be West Indies top run scorer at 50/1, Stan James
