March: How did we do?

The Headlines:

Bets advised: 99

Points profit/(loss): 20.75

Pool Return: +41.5%

(Gross Return:  21%)   (Pool Returns and Gross Returns are discussed on the Our Results page of the site, where other months’ results can also be accessed)

March was dominated by the Cheltenham Festival. Usually a reliable source of profit, this year’s festival highlight, Presenting Percy (11/1), was not quite enough to turn a profit for the meeting.

Thankfully the rest of the month’s horse racing delivered in fine style, the highlights being wins for The Right Man (28/1), Beer Googles (14/1), Bouclier (7/1) and Becky the Thatcher (6/1) amongst others. We are all set for the big Aintree-Fairyhouse-Punchestown push.

An early win for Dustin Johnson was not quite enough to secure a profit for the month on golf, but April has started with a bang, and the Masters beckons in what should be an interesting month.

Likewise football finished the month a fraction behind despite some repeated success with our Raheem Sterling assist ploy.

A quiet month for other sports would have been memorable but for a frustrating narrow miss in the Bellew-Haye boxing.

In summary, March was a satisfactory month. We are rightly pleased with the final outcome, but will be working to improve our strike rate in the coming month to reduce reliance on big-priced winners (after the Grand National of course).
