Champions League: Real Can Upset The Odds

All eyes will be on the Allianz Arena tonight as Real Madrid travel to take on Bayern Munich in the Champions League quarter-final.

This will be the 23rd time these two storied teams will meet in UEFA club competition, the most played fixture, and brings together sides that have won the Champions League a combined 16 times, including three of the last four years.

Bayern start as favourites tonight, fresh off a 4-1 victory over Borussia Dortmund over the weekend, and boasting a very strong home record. This includes a run of 16 Champions League matches without defeat, a record for the competition. They also seem to have the wood over the Spanish giants at home, having won nine of eleven matches in Munich. That said, the last time the German champions lost at home in Europe was to Real in 2014.

[Incidentally, speaking of Borussia Dortmund, bookies appear to be letting all bets stand with Dortmund’s rearranged Champions League clash. (Champions League: Aubameyang to Get Goals Flowing)]

So Real have it all to do. But in Ronaldo, Bale and Benzema they have a forward line that can cause any team damage, even a side of Bayern’s ability. And the German side will be without star defender Mats Hummels, while Polish star Robert Lewandowski is a doubt.

In addition, there are not many occasions punters will be offered 4/1 on this talented side winning an individual match. We will be taking a chance on them doing so.

Recommendation: Real to win at 4/1, bet365
