Wetherby Races: A Silver Lining

The low-key lull between Aintree and Fairyhouse continues today with Towcester, Wetherby and Chelmsford competing for attention.

We’ll be hoping the day ends with a silver lining as we will be waiting until the curtain call before taking a chance with Silver Shuffle (1700 Wetherby).

This veteran disappointed us a little when placing midfield in a recent flat race.  In truth he is more of a long distance hurdler (today’s trip is a suitable 3 miles), and he couldn’t get into the pace of that 1m4f race.  He was a big price that day and worth a small risk – and well he’s a big price again today, even though he reverts to a more suitable test.

Silver Shuffle was good enough to win a small race at an Aintree meeting last Summer and he gets in here on a similar mark.  His last hurdles outing was his first after a long break and much needed.  With that flat run now under his belt also, and with ground conditions in his favour he can outrun the long odds.

Jockey Emma Sayer knows the horse inside out and can be relied upon to get the best out of the old war horse.

Our policy is to back each way where odds allow for us to double our money with a place.

Recommendation:  Silver Shuffle, (1700 Wetherby), 16/1 each way, generally available
