Premier League: Red/Blue Stalemate

Manchester United versus Chelsea, one of the season’s big clashes, and a game that has a number of sub plots to whet the appetite.

Chelsea enter the match the fresher. While they were preparing for the game their rivals were traveling to Anderlecht to play a Europa League match.

The Blues also have the better recent record – they are unbeaten in 12 games against today’s opponents, including a 4-0 thrashing in the reverse fixture earlier this season.

United have a strong record at Old Trafford, having lost only once in 37 matches in all competitions, but a large portion of these games have been draws.

All this said, there will be a fair degree of emotion surrounding this match. Chelsea manager Antonio Conte will see this game as potentially the biggest hurdle towards his first Premier League title. A draw would be a good result.

Jose Mourinho, United’s manager and formerly darling of Stamford Bridge, will still be hurting over the previous defeat. He will be keen not to be beaten, particularly by the manager who usurped him, and if anyone can set up a side not to lose it isĀ him!

This has a draw written all over it.

Recommendation: Manchester United and Chelsea to draw at 11/5, widely availableĀ
