Champions League: Foxes Fairytale Finishes

The latest chapter of Leicester City’s European fairytale takes place tonight, and all their supporters will be hoping it isn’t the last.

However, the Foxes have it all to do. Having lost the first leg against Atletico Madrid away from home, Leicester are battling history. Around two thirds of sides that have won their home tie 1-0 in the knockout phase of the Champions League have gone through.

In addition, Leicester are taking on a side that is looking to proceed to the semifinals of this tournament for the third time in four seasons. The team from the East Midlands will be relying on their impressive home form, having won all four games in the Champions League at the King Power Stadium.

Still, it won’t be easy. Leicester have defensive problems, with Robert Huth suspended and injury doubts surrounding captain Wes Morgan. Atletico, by contrast, were able to rest their key players on the weekend.

We, at Lap of the Odds HQ, think the fabulous Leicester story is about to come to an end.

Leicester couldn’t manufacture a shot on target during the first leg. Sure they will have to be more adventurous this time around, particularly in the second half if it remains scoreless, but this will leave them open for the counter. And one away goal will make the task Herculean against this Atletico defence.

One way to play this may be to bet on a draw at halftime before Atletico win at full time at 7/2.

Recommendation: Draw halftime, Atletico win full time at 7/2, Paddy Power
