Real Madrid versus Bayern Munich in the quarterfinals of the Champions League – it certainly whets the appetite!
This is the most frequently played tie in the history of the Champions League, and having lost the first leg at home Bayern have it all to do.
All five teams who have won 2-1 away from home in the knockout stages of the Champions League have progressed. On top of this, Bayern have lost eight of the last 10 away games versus Real, including the last five.
The Spanish giants will be looking to make the semifinals for the seventh consecutive year, which would be a new record.
Real have never failed to score in their last 34 home games in the Champions League, but will be without their Welsh star Gareth Bale. On the other hand, Bayern will welcome back Robert Lewandowski, their star striker who has scored 38 goals from 40 games this season.
This has all the potential to be a high scoring game, and given the history the odds of Real winning with both teams scoring, at 5/2, looks value.
Recommendation: Real to win with both teams scoring at 5/2, Stan James
