The IPL today rolls into Bangalore, and you can be sure the home team will be delighted to get back to the Chinnaswamy Stadium after a humiliating all out 49, the lowest in this competition’s history in Kolkata on the weekend.
The Challengers now lie bottom of the table after that defeat, and the prospect of their side of Galtacticos making the play-offs is looking increasingly remote.
The Sunrisers are the opposition, as they were in last year’s final, and David Warner’s team continue to prosper with their mix of pugnacious top order batting and array of quality bowling options.
Top of that array is last year’s leading wicket taker, and the leader in this year’s competition, pace-ace and death-expert, Bhuvneshwar Kumar. He will be licking his lips at the prospect of tackling the RCB’s fragile confidence.
Rashid Khan’s leg spin is the other prime weapon in the Hyderabad armoury, and the battle for top bowler should really come down to these two.
We think Kumar’s death bowling gives him the edge, and the early battle with Chris Gayle could yield an early wicket also.
Recommendation: B. Kumar, top Hyderabad bowler, 11/4 generally available
