Away from the spotlights of Punchestown, racing continues in the UK, and frankly you couldn’t get more away from the spotlight than the joys of Catterick Bridge up in lovely North Yorkshire.
Today’s meeting will pass by all but the most ardent enthusiasts, but we at Lap of the Odds HQ are nothing if not ardent in our search for winners and we have sniffed out some value on the last race of the card (1705),
Zylan has been a busy boy of late, sauntering home at Southwell last week before narrowly failing to follow up under a penalty at Thirsk on Saturday when looking unlucky in his run.
He bounces out again quickly here. That last defeat, an inexperienced jockey, a longer 7f trip, and a wide draw have all conspired to make him a very backable 6/1. The defeat though, was arguably unlucky, the jockey has ridden him throughout this spell, he has won at distances up to 1 mile in the past, and as a horse likely to be dropped in and ridden for a late run, the draw is workable.
He can win again.
Recommendation: Zylan (1705 Catterick), 6/1, generally available.
