Today’s second IPL clash sees the Sunrisers Hyderabad travel up to the Kings XI Punjab.
Kings XI are packed full of explosive batsmen, skippered by T20 legend Glenn Maxwell, and whilst they use South African technician Hashim Amla as an anchorman, the rest really love to get on with it.
They welcome back veteran Windies all-rounder Darren Sammy to the fray, and his middle order thumps-manship looks to have been somewhat dismissed by Skybet’s 16/1 that he leads the Kings XI run-getting. Capable of some savage hitting that is a tempting price.
However, we will use the inverse of the Kings XI aggression by suggesting that the IPL leading wicket-taker of last and this season, Bhuvneshwar Kumar can lead the Sunrisers wicket-takers.
He will likely take two of the opening overs and hope to pick up a quick wicket. More crucially he should close the innings with two overs at the death, and we can foresee carnage as the Punjab batsmen try to hit the accelerator.
Kumar’s leading stats amply describe his late over talents, and he can cash in with cheap late wickets sufficient to top the table.
Recommendation: B Kumar, SRH top wicket taker, 11/4 William Hill
