The first of two IPL matches today sees the Kolkata Knight Riders hosting the Delhi Daredevils at Eden Gardens.
This newly re-laid pitch has been appreciably quicker than the standard Indian norm, and we are treated to several top fast bowlers in opposition here.
Aussie Pat Cummins may be the fastest in the planet right now, and makes some appeal for the Delhi Daredevils, but he will be vying for top bowler with several other credible team-mates including the prolific Chris Morris.
For the KKR however, things look a little less competitive. Windies spin legend and newly promoted pinch-hitter Sunil Narine continues to be priced as the most likely wicket taker even though his role this season seems to be to strangle the run-rate of the top order. Indeed he is yet to grab more than a single wicket in any match this IPL season.
Team-mate Nathan Coulter-Nile is an Aussie with a rich T20 pedigree. Late to the IPL this season, he has played three matches taking 3, 2 and 3 wickets respectively. Likely to bowl at the death, and armed with a dazzling array of disguised deliveries he should really be favourite ahead of Narine, and looks attractively priced.
Recommendation: Nathan Coulter-Nile, Top KKR bowler, 7/2 generally available
