The second of today’s IPL fixtures starts this afternoon, and sees the Gujarat Lions travel to Pune to take on the Rising Pune Supergiant.
The home side will be looking to cement their fourth position in the table, the final spot that qualifies for the playoffs, while Gujarat can move to within two points of that important fourth place.
Pune will start the game brimming with confidence, having won four out of their last five matches, including a battering of RCB last time out. Gujarat, on the other hand, have to recover from the pain of a Super Over defeat to Mumbai in their last match. That said, the Lions have won all three games played between the two sides.
Still, the Lions suffered a cruel injury blow last match, when their strike bowler, Andrew Tye, dislocated his shoulder diving for the ball while fielding. We at Lap of the Odds look for fellow Aussie James Faulkner to step into the breech during those critical death overs, and thus think he has a strong chance of being the leading wicket taker for the Lions.
Recommendation: Faulkner to be top wicket taker for Gujarat Lions at 100/30, Paddy Power
