Liverpool travel to Vicarage Road tonight to take on Watford, knowing full well that anything less than three points will be a severe blow to their chances of clinching a Champions League spot.
The Reds will be bouyed by draws for both Manchester clubs yesterday, their main rivals in the race of entry into the Champions League, but will likely still be fuming after last weekend’s defeat by Crystal Palace.
They have the superior record, winning five of their last six meetings between the two sides in the Premier League, and 10 of the last 12 encounters in all competitions.
However, five of Liverpool’s six defeats this season have come against teams in the bottom half of the table, and Watford currently stand 13th.
There is no doubt Watford will cause Liverpool trouble tonight, but the Reds have much more at stake and we at Lap of the Odds expect this to be the determining factor.
The 9/4 on offer that Liverpool win, with both teams scoring, appeals. But we will recommend the 5/1 that Liverpool’s Brazilian magician Coutinho inspires the Reds to victory with a man of the match performance.
Recommendation: Coutinho named man of the match at 5/1, BetFred
