May had become a very frustrating horse racing month for us, with close seconds on five consecutive racing days. We had been hitting the post, the bar, everything but the back of the net.
Those sequences are usually broken, by the rules of Sod’s Law, by a run of poor losers. Thankfully for us, our persistence paid off when today’s tip, Frontiersman, sauntered home under William Buick in Newmarket’s opener.
Chalked up at 12/1 as we first drafted our blog, we had to reflect a mighty crunch down to 5/1 by the time of posting our tip, and the money continued to pour on to the eventual 5/2 winner.
Anyone steaming in never had any doubt. Let’s hope this marks the start of a different kind of sequence.
