Premier League: Stalemate at Emirates

Arsenal versus Manchester United – this used to be the clash of the season, the game to determine the league title.

Times change. Now, both sides are outside the qualifying positions for the Champions League, and this game may well lack the intensity of yesteryear.

Arsenal currently lie in sixth place, nine points off fourth although they do have a couple of games in hand. The visitors, United, lie four points off the key fourth position, with one game in hand. Thus, you would think victory was essential for both sides.

However, United are plagued with injury worries and have an important European game midweek. Will they prioritise the Europa League semifinal and pick a very much weakened team today?

It’s difficult to say, and whatever team Jose Mourinho picks will be well drilled. The onus will be on Arsenal at the Emirates to make the running, but this could suit a counterattacking away team.

There is no doubt Arsenal will be up for this game, but United will always be a tough nut to crack. As a result, we at Lap of the Odds will go for a draw in this game.

Recommendation: A draw at 27/10, Paddy Power and Ladbrokes
