Chelsea host Middlesbrough tonight, and are expected to move one step closer toward winning the Premier League title.
The Blues have been tremendous at home this season, having won 12 times in 13 attempts, and have a great record against tonight’s opponents. In fact, the last time Boro won at Stamford Bridge in the top flight was in 1975.
On top of this, the potential champions are playing the second weakest team in the league. Middlesbrough have 28 points with three games remaining, and could be relegated from the Premier League for a record-equalling fourth time. They have not won an away league match in 16 attempts, losing five of their last six.
This all points towards a home win, and there could be something of a party atmosphere around Stamford Bridge tonight.
We at Lap of the Odds expect the home team to put a bit of a show, potentially scoring a number of goals. With this in mind, we are going to take a punt on commentators’ darling Eden Hazard picking up the man of the match award. He is quoted at 3/1 with Paddy Power. This is not a big price, but goals for Chelsea would surely limit the options to their offensive players.
Recommendation: Hazard to win man of the match at 3/1, Paddy Power
