Champions League: Winner in Madrid

Madrid is likely to come to a standstill this evening, as the two major footballing sides from Spain’s capital battle it out for the right to play in the Champions League final.

Although Atletico host tonight’s game, Real hold all the aces. They lead 3-0 from the first leg, contain the tournament’s leading all-time scorer in Cristiano Ronaldo, and have beaten their cross-city rivals in this competition in the past three seasons, including the finals in 2014 and 2016.

Atletico know their only chance is to keep a clean sheet – if Real score the home team would need five to progress. This won’t be easy to achieve as Real have scored in their last 60 matches, so Atletico will likely keep things tight, at least initially.

Real, on the other hand, will be in no hurry to score. Keep things tight at the back and wait for chances to appear could well be the thinking, especially with a hefty first leg lead.

Thus, we at Lap of the Odds think the 11/4  Paddy Power offer for a draw at half time to be followed by either side winning at full time has value.

Recommendation: Draw at half time, either side winning at full time at 11/4, Paddy Power
