Sunday Races: Dollar Signs?

We love a good Western at Lap of the Odds HQ.  When it comes to a final shootout, few compare with the genius of Sergio Leone.

Once Upon A Time In The West has an epic confrontation, whilst it’s hard to argue with anyone asserting that The Good, The Bad and The Ugly’s triangular shootout is the best ever made.

We though love the watch-chime revenge face-off between Lee Van Cleef’s Colonel Mortimer and the mesmeric Gian Maria Volonte’s El Indio in For A Few Dollars More.

Well, we go bounty hunting at the Curragh today, and are hoping Declan McDonagh will be quick on the draw in the 5f sprint (1445 BST), on his mount A Few Dollars More.

This sprinter ran well at Cork on seasonal debut and was favourite for a hot race at Naas last time that featured a number of this opponents today.

He finished close enough in 5th, but a prolonged battle for the lead didn’t help.  Drawn just a few slots off the rail here, if he can bounce out quickly and grab that rail he can overturn the form and show just why he was made favourite last time.

Here’s hoping for A Fistful of Dollars…

Recommendation:  A Few Dollars More, (1445 Curragh), 10/1, generally available
