Tonight’s Premier League match sees Manchester United travel to St. Mary’s Stadium to take on Southampton.
This game has a distinct end of season air attached to it. Southampton currently lie safely in eighth, have no European responsibilities and can’t improve their league position. United also can’t gain places in the league, but do have European commitments which could influence tonight’s team selection.
Southampton haven’t enjoyed the delights of home this season, with only the league’s bottom team Sunderland scoring fewer goals in front of their own fans. The Saints have won just once in their last seven in all competitions at St. Mary’s, and haven’t scored in their last three in the league.
United are hardly flying either, and have lost their last two league games as the Europa League had grown in importance. The Red Devils haven’t lost three in a row in the Premier League since December 2015. They have picked a reasonably strong side tonight, and we at Lap of the Odds HQ expect them to end their losing run tonight while keeping the home team scoreless.
Recommendation: Man Utd to win to nil at 9/2, Paddy Power
