Premier League: Coutinho to be Reds’ Hero

The Premier League season draws to a conclusion this afternoon, and Liverpool take on Middlesbrough hoping for three points and a place in next season’s Champions League.

The Reds have struggled at times against lowly opposition this season, and I think it’s fair to say that already relegated Boro fall into the category. However, the Teesiders have a dreadful record at Anfield. The last time they won was in the mid ’70s, and they are currently on a streak of 17 away games in the league without a win.

The pressure will be on the home team as they look for the win that would guarantee entry into Europe’s elite competition for only the second time in their last eight attempts.

So, in the words of the great Welsh warbler Bonnie Tyler, Liverpool will be holding out for a hero today.

Step forward Phillipe Coutinho. The Brazilian midfield genius has been in prime form, scoring six goals and assisting with two more in his last eight games.

We at Lap of the Odds expect him to star again today, and take the 7/2 BetFred offers that he will win the man of the match accolade.

Coutinho may well be the difference between Liverpool getting Lost in France next season or the Kop singing “It’s a heartache.”

Recommendation: Coutinho to win man of the match at 7/2, BetFred
