Tuesday Races: Brighton Buzz to Blitz Bookies…

Brighton racecourse is a great day out, and the course itself is beautifully idiosyncratic, sweeping around the crest of the hills on the edge of town, across Wilson Avenue (suitably wood-chipped) before a turn into a heavily cambered straight.

As such, the course really plays into the hands (hooves) of course specialists.  It is a bit soon to award that label to Buzz Lightyere (1720 BST) after just one recent course win.  That was his first run for a new stable, and he is only 3lbs higher here in what looks on the face of it a much easier task.

Liam Keniry gets the leg-up, and we’ll be hoping he leads “to the finishing line and beyond…”.

Earlier on the card (1450) a big field over 7f may not be enough to stop the fancied Pass The Cristal from confirming the promise of his Wolverhampton seasonal debut run.

That day he pulled hard and had to overcome trouble in running before finishing fast to come up just short in second place.  The benefit of that run will hopefully allow him to relax a little better, and jockey Martin Dwyer is well versed in Brighton’s twists and turns, and he can navigate a passage through to deliver Pass The Cristal’s late thrust.

Other course specialists Becca Campbell (1550), Provoking (1620), and Kafeel (1650) all have good looking chances, but Buzz Lightyere and Pass The Cristal look a likely double at reasonable odds.

Recommendations:

Pass The Cristal (1450 Brighton), 7/2 generally available

Buzz Lightyere (1720 Brighton), 9/4 generally available

Pass The Cristal & Buzz Lightyere, win double, approx. 13.5/1
