A thoroughly humdrum Sunday of jumps racing in the UK is wholly overshadowed by the 1000 Guineas card at the Curragh in Ireland.
The main race of the day looks set for the favourite whilst the other Group 1, the Tattersalls Gold Cup, is a disappointing field and a race that could go to any of them.
A more interesting prospect is the 2 mile handicap (1630 BST) for which the betting is dominated by Willie Mullins’ classy hurdling mare Whiteout.
She has had a patch season over jumps, but is very well in reverting to flat racing, that said, a top priced 2/1 has to be too short.
We prefer another hurdling convert and recent Killarney winner, Supreme Vinnie. He would be rated well behind Whiteout on jumps form, but showed some eye-catching improvement when winning last time out.
That day he travelled with great ease and was able to overcome some trouble in running before running out a pretty easy winner. He may just be a bit better on the flat, and the recent rain would probably be in his favour.
Top jockey Rachel Blackmore keeps the ride, and she can go very close at very tasty odds.
Recommendation: Supreme Vinnie, (1630 Curragh), 12/1 Stan James, Bet365
