Lions Tour: Time to banish the Blues

The British & Irish Lions line up for the second game on the tour early Wednesday, hoping to erase the memory of Saturday’s dismal show with a solid performance against the Blues.

Now their opponents may be the weakest of the five New Zealand Super Rugby franchises, but that doesn’t mean they don’t represent a significant step up from the Provincial Barbarians who caused the Lions so much trouble last weekend.

The Lions’ management have completely revamped the side, as they were always going to, and have picked an all-Irish centre partnership, all-Welsh half backs and a more English pack.

We at Lap of the Odds fully expect a more complete performance from the Lions, the time for excuses has now past, but the Blues will cause them plenty of problems.

We can see the Blues making the early running, before the strength of the Lions’ bench helps the tourists to victory. Paddy Power offers 5/1 that the Blues lead at halftime before the Lions come back to win.

Recommendation: Blues to lead at halftime, Lions at full time at 5/1, 1 pt, Paddy Power
