Royal Ascot: The Awesome Foursome

So Royal Ascot is upon us. We aren’t exactly the top hat and tails crowd to be honest, but we do love the chance to get a value wager, and we are going to gun for a life-changer/holiday-maker yankee across some of the week’s big races.

First up on Tuesday is the lightning fast 5 furlongs of the Kings Stand Stakes. Lady Aurelia showed astonishing speed winning here as a 2yo last year.  She has been prepped for this return including an on course gallop last week, and could dazzle again.

On Wednesday, the Royal Hunt Cup looks a simple task given nearly 30 runners on the straight mile! We can’t believe the handicapper gave Banksea just 4lbs extra for winning a quality race at Newbury, and back on a straight mile he can prove that leniency by winning again.

On Friday, the Duke of Edinburgh handicap looks the likely target of Alan King’s improving Top Tug. A strong run race at this trip should suit ideally, and he showed last time at Goodwood that he stays really well. He can stay on late to grab the spoils.

On Saturday, the Wokingham gives us another mass field sprinting over the 6 furlongs. Naggers did us a favour before and would have a chance if sneaking in, a chance enhanced by any rain. But last year’s winner Outback Traveller looks well primed for a repeat win. He was a good winner last year and will obviously be suited by this race.

A yankee on those four could just pay very nicely indeed.
