Sunday Races: Go to Town at Ayr…

A very quiet Sunday of racing offers just the one UK turf flat meeting up at Ayr in the west of Scotland.

A busy card offers up a juicy looking double.

First up is the very lightly raced handicapper Komodo (1410 Ayr). With just 4 career runs he is open to significant improvement and his Doncaster second last time suggested he has plenty to offer and this step up in trip looks ideal.

A number of in-form opponents line up, but they have already had their feats interpreted by the handicapper and will have their work cut out trying to handle the progressive 3yo Komodo.

Later (1620), another progressive and lightly raced 3yo, Town Charter steps back up in trip after a staying on second at Chester last time.  Trainer Mark Johnston’s tough handicappers are always worth following in the midsummer months, and he appears to have found this fella an open goal on a course that should suit and opposition that leave little to fear.

Recommendation:  Komodo (1410 Ayr) & Town Charter (1620 Ayr), 1pt win double, approx 15/1.
