A typically workmanlike Monday with the usual evening Windsor card and another Ayr card as the Summer North/Scots circuit continues.
Mistakes in life have differing “repeat half-lives”. Getting drunk on Southern Comfort has a life-time repeat half-life; eating a Pot Noodle is around 3yrs (before memory fades and curiosity kicks back in).
For us, the repeat half-life for backing the Richard Fahey trained Party Tiger appears to be around 14 weeks. That’s how long it is since we backed him at Naas only to be badly let down, yet here we go again…
In fairness, his effort at Naas had a distinctly “what were we thinking” quality, and a couple of subsequent efforts were no better. Last time though, stepped back to 6f at Newcastle, he showed a glimmer of improvement.
He is reunited with top jockey Paul Hanagan who rode him at Newcastle, and it could be his feedback that sees a first-time visor applied.
That could mean a more aggressive ride, which on a front-runner’s course, and with a near-rail draw, all adds up to one more chance.
There goes the kettle – that Curry Pot Noodle awaits….
Recommendation: Party Tiger (2110 Ripon), 1pt win, 9/1 Betfair
