Well we repeatedly hit the bar yesterday at first metaphorically and then libationally. Our treble was shot down in an early photo finish, with two further placed runners just a case of emptying the chambers into the already still corpse of our bet.
Nevermind, don’t change a losing formula they say (they being Paddy Power and William Hill) and Friday presents us with a copycat strike-whilst-hot treble.
First up is the lightly raced Free Forum (1510 BST) who looks to repeat last weeks Yarmouth success on the undulations of Brighton. He is 5lbs higher but was good for more than that as his winning run overcame plenty of traffic issues. Jamie Spencer does the steering today.
At Haydock (1915), topweight in a nursery (always a good plan) Veejay reappears quickly after running 10th of 14 at Goodwood. That first defeat was a much better race than this, even so, 10th in no way represented merit as Veejay was repeatedly blocked in the final quarter mile and had much more to give. Recompense awaits.
Finally (2020) the in form Granny Roz looks to go one better than when pipped last weekend. That already looks a good run with the winner going in again yesterday, and the lightly raced glamorous Granny can land the bingo here under the flying Rachel Richardson.
Make mine a treble please barman….
Recommendation: Free Forum (1515 Brighton) c5/4, Veejay (1915 Haydock) c2/1, & Granny Roz (2020 Haydock) c7/4, 1pt win treble, approx 17/1
