Premier League: Golden Booted Kane

The new footballing season starts Friday, and followers of this blog already know our thinking for the four English divisions. (Football: City to claim Manchester bragging rights)

But another bet worth considering is who will score the most goals in the Premier League this season, the Golden Boot.

Leading the betting is Spurs striker Harry Kane, who has won the boot for the last two years. Kane makes sense again, he is playing for a side which creates chances, is unlikely to be rotated out, and takes penalties. Spurs are now playing at Wembley, which could be a negative, but at 100/30 we think this is a two point bet.

Manchester United newcomer Romelu Lukaku is next in the betting, and he has a strong chance. However, the Red Devils have struggled to score goals under manager Jose Mourinho and we will pass.

Arsenal and Chelsea have spent a lot of cash to bring in new strikers, but they are likely to take time to settle in. Man City are sure to score goals, but these may be split between their two top forwards Sergio Aguero and Gabriel Jesus.

Our second selection is Roberto Firmino. The Brazilian plays up front for Liverpool, a team likely to score for fun. It’s true Firmino has been more of link man than prolific scorer of late, but there is talk that he will take penalties for the Reds this season. At 50/1, he could be an each way shot.

Recommendations:

Kane to win Golden Boot at 100/30, 2 pts, BetVictor

Firmino 0.5 pts each way at 50/1, bet365, 1/4 the odds first four.
