Premier League: Cross your palm with Silva

Today’s opening Premier League match sees pre-season title favourites Manchester City travel to Bournemouth.

City stuttered in a home draw with Everton last time.  Given they were down to 10 men from halftime and Everton are a strong defensive team, it probably wasn’t that bad an effort.  Indeed, City were a stronger team away from home last year.

They should also enjoy visiting a Bournemouth team who have had a poor start to the season.  The Cherries do not have a defensive “thou shalt not pass” philosophy, rather they like to attack as the best form of defense.  That should be ideal for the visitors.

With goals likely and a City win expected, we will once again hit the Man of the Match market.

To our eye, perennial commentator ‘s darling David Silva has been back to his best this season. The ultimate string-puller, he has also been a threat in the box and can win the gong with his all round display.

Recommendation: David Silva, Man of the Match, 2pts win, 9/1 William Hill
