Saturday sees the climax of the English T20 season, and while many will be looking to see what madness former England coach David Lloyd (aka Bumble) can get up to, we will be hoping to predict the winner.
Edgbaston hosts both the semifinals and the subsequent final, and this could become key given the heavy use this ground has seen this season.
Nottinghamshire Outlaws start as clear favourites, having topped the North Group while qualifying. They have a very powerful batting lineup, but the likes of Alex Hales and Riki Wessels want the ball coming on to the bat.
This is where a potentially worn Edgbaston track might come into play. Birmingham Bears only came third in the North Group but are into Finals Day for the third time in four years. They won the event in 2014, the last time it was held at their home track, and in Jeetan Patel they have a spinner who has taken 20 wickets in the tournament, the second highest. It may be worth a punt on the home team, and hope Bumble doesn’t suffer an unfortunate accident in the mascots’ race!
Recommendation: Birmingham, 1pt win, 3/1 Stan James
