Some tempting action at Goodwood and Hamilton today. Ultimately we will head north of the border for a stable double that makes plenty of appeal.
Trainer Ruth Carr is from the dynasty of 80s northern training legend David Chapman. She has inherited his, get-em-fit and keep running them attitude, and often gets amongst the winners during the busy summer months.
Her 3yo sprinting filly Melaniemillie (1540 BST) gets the standard treatment being sent out just 6 days after a gallant 2nd at Catterick. She looked likely to make all that day but tired late on. That’s three 2nds and a win since hitting form in mid July.
This race doesn’t look too challenging, and off the same mark as last week, she is entitled to go very close on a track that can suit prominent racers.
Stablemate Racquet goes half an hour later (1610) having had the relative holiday of 13 days since running a good 3rd at Carlisle. That came after two wins in his previous three outings.
The soft ground will hold no fears, and there should be even less fears from a very very exposed and weak looking opposition. Racquet has the form and extra quality to defy top weight and complete the stable double.
Melaniemille, (1540 Hamilton), 1pt win, 7/2 generally available
Racquet, (1610 Hamilton), 1pt win, 7/2 generally available
Melaniemillie & Racquet, 1pt win double, approx. 19/1.
