PGA Tour: Phil’s delicate touch…

The FedEx Cup series returns Thursday with the BMW Championship at Conway Farms in Chicago.

We at Lap of the Odds have been all over Jordan Speith for the last two tournaments in this series, only for him to finish second on both occasions. But now with Speith, Dustin Johnson and Justin Thomas having guaranteed their positions in the top five for the Tour Championship, and thus in a position to win the whole series without outside help, it’s time to look elsewhere.

Touch around the greens is meant to be a key attribute around this course, and that brings Phil Mickelson to mind. Lefty needs a good result to get into the final 30 next week and showed signs of form last time out, finishing in the top ten.

Additionally, we will side with Patrick Cantlay. The young American is a former world number one in the amateur rankings and has been knocking on the door of a win in the PGA Tour. We think it’s just a matter of time.

Cantley 0.5 pts each way at 50/1, 1/5 the odds for first six, SkyBet
