Premier League: Roy’s Palace Party

Crystal Palace have had a traumatic start to the season. Four games in, four defeats and no goals. The bright new dawn that was meant to arrive with the appointment of Frank de Boer as manager is nowhere to be seen. And neither is de Boer, sacked after just 77 days.

However, the Palace squad is better than this season’s results would suggest, after all it wasn’t that long ago that the team’s hierarchy were talking openly about a top eight position and potential European football.

We at Lap of the Odds HQ expect there to be a reaction to the appointment of Roy Hodgson as manager. The former England manager has a fair idea about the very DNA of the club, he comes from just down the road in Croydon after all, and is likely to revert to the basics that served the team well.

Additionally they take on a Southampton side still adjusting to the change of their manager in the close season, and who have failed to score in nine of their last 12 games.

We look for Palace to jump out the blocks quickly, and take the 4/1 that they are winning at halftime as well as full time.

Recommendation: Palace to win at halftime and full time at 4/1, 1 pt, widely available
