Friday Races: Non Runners drive us Wild

Well, after yesterday’s efforts we will simply be glad to see a horse hit the track. The abandonment of Ayr robbed us of three cracking bets, and even our effort to reboot with a tip at Pontefract was scuppered by a late withdrawal.

Ayr again sits out Friday in hope that the Scottish weather will relent enough to allow the Gold Cup to be run on Saturday.

We will therefore divert our attention to the useful card down at Newbury.

In particular our attention is drawn to the classy 12f handicap (1455 BST).  Favourite Danehill Kodiac has an obvious chance under Ryan Moore, but he has a bit to find on recent all-weather form with Frankie Dettori’s mount Wild Hacked.

The issue with Wild Hacked is whether he can reproduce that good form on turf.  Well he was bang there at this trip in the classy Ebor handicap, which shows he can go on the turf.

We will trust Frankie to confirm Kempton form with the favourite and steer the selection home.

Recommendation: Wild Hacked, (1455 Newbury), 1pt win, 5/1 generally available
