Monday Races: Bay of plenty?

The frustration of losing Ayr’s action rolls into Monday with the loss of a Hamilton meeting that had promised a decent bet.

Still, we can be fairly sure there won’t be abandonment issues on the all- weather down at Kempton Park.

A good looking card ends with a fascinating 1m handicap (1735 BST).

Recent all-the-way winner Solent Meads is likely to have company on the pace here, and that could set up the race for a closer.

Evening Hill and particularly Mont Royal will enjoy those tactics, but it could just be worth taking a punt here.

Zoffany Bay ran with promise here last time when held up in a race run quite slowly.  His staying on effort suggested there could be more to come in a faster run race.

He has just six lifetime runs, starting in April, and that all-weather run last time suggests a switch to artificial surfaces, along with a drop in ratings, may be about to spark some dramatic improvement.

We hope they go quickly up front, and that, held up from an inside stall, Zoffany Bay can spring a shock.

Recommendation: Zoffany Bay, (1735 Kempton), 0.5pts each way, 20/1 generally available
