World Cup Qualifier: England to win in time

England face Slovenia tonight knowing that victory will guarantee their place in the World Cup in Russia next year.

The two sides have met five times before, with England winning four times (the other being a draw), including the two previous occasions at Wembley.

And the current odds suggest the bookies think another victory is on the cards. We at Lap of the Odds tend to agree, after all England have won their last 13 home qualifiers for the Euros and the World Cup.

However, it’s unlikely to be straight forward. Slovenia have conceded only four goals in their eight qualifying games so far and England have hardly been prolific.

We look for the game to be reasonably tight early on, before England’s pressure eventually wears the away team down.

Recommendation: Draw at halftime, England win at full time, 1 pt, at 11/4, widely available
