The by now obligatory one-from-two in our Willie double yesterday, a profit but not all we had hoped for.
Today we are heading north of the border to a good looking card at Musselburgh. The sharp Scottish track has a pair of 7f handicaps closing the card that demand tactical speed as it is very hard to make ground up this straight.
The first division sees Rebecca Bastiman’s Hitman dropped to a low mark of 62, and consequently dropped to this low class for the first time.
His recent runs haven’t been so bad against better horses, and he could well dominate this lower class.
The second division gives us a chance to jump on an in form filly in the shape of My Girl Maisie.
At first glance her 5th at Chelmsford last time might look like her progress has stalled, but that was a good race and she had her progress checked by some bad luck in running at a crucial moment.
We think she was worth more than that outcome, and this is a weaker race.
No messing around, just a plain double.
Recommendation: Hitman (1740 Musselburgh) & My Girl Maisie (1810 Musselburgh), 1pt win double, approx 15/1
