Tuesday Races: Get set to be Scused…

Yet another one-out-of-two double strike yesterday, with Hitman being disarmed by going for an audacious inside run…for audacious read stupid….and having to watch the finish from behind a wall of horses.

We have noticed numerous formerly selected horses winning subsequent to selection of late…we’ll run those numbers soon for fun/agony….Katabatika (14/1) and Cornerstone Lad (10/1) adding to that list only yesterday.

Today’s cards include blog alumni Foxy Lady, Lady Joanna Vassa, Captain Scooby, Flowing Clarets, Buzz Lightyere, Becky The Thatcher, A Genie in a Bottle, Arbre de Vie, Metisian, Rapid Ranger, My Reward, Muatadel, Esspeegee, Zoffany Bay and Gamesome…(wow, that’s a busy year when a random Tuesday has 15 previously selected horses…there’s a Yankee in there somewhere).

Of the 15, it is Gamesome who appeals most as he hits an all weather surface for the first time (1930), which should suit his style of running, and he comes here off the back of a promising effort at Pontefract. One win in 31 starts is certainly worrying, but this change of track could be the changing of that too.

Whether it’s an indictment of the other alumni, or a huge vote of confidence for our next selection, we are going to tread new ground with David Barron’s sprinter Scuzeme also up at Newcastle (2000 BST).

His only previous run at this track was a sumptuous win in January.  It may not have been the greatest race although the second and third won straight after. Since then, Scuzeme stuck to turf in a Spring campaign that got nowhere.

He looks to have been freshened up for a synthetics campaign, and returned from a break and reunited with course conditions, we suspect there could be a dramatic return to form.

We’ll be keeping a watchful (and busy) eye on all our exes, but the new love is for Scuzeme.

Gamesome (1930 Newcastle), 1pt win, 6/1 Bet365

Scuzeme, (2000 Newcastle), 1pt win, 5/1 Bet365

Gamesome & Scuzeme, 1pt win double, 41/1 Bet365
