The PGA Tour heads east this week, with the TPC Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia hosting the CIMB Classic.
Justin Thomas is the hot favourite, as he bids to win this event for the third time in a row.
The young American is playing very well, having won the FedEx Series last month and played a starring role in his country’s Presidents Cup victory. We won’t put anyone off this talented golfer, but 4/1 is too short a price for us.
Instead we’ll put our cash on players who have shown a liking for this part of the world before.
Fellow American Scott Piercy has just come back from injury, playing reasonably well last week. He has finished tied 10th and tied seventh in his last two appearances at this event. We’ll take a chance.
Our second selection is Rafael Cabrera Bello. He has been taking a break since the BMW Championship in the middle of September, and returns to a course where he finished tied for 10th last year. The likely hot conditions should be no problem for this Spaniard.
Piercy 0.5 pts each way at 40/1, 1/4 the odds first five places, widely available
Cabrera Bello 0.5 pts each way at 40/1, 1/4 the odds first five places, widely available
