The NFL Season has been nothing if unpredictable with the pack a lot closer together than previous seasons. The level playing field is due to several factors – waning skills of top quarter backs, emergence of aggressive defensive lines and some huge plays at pivotal times.
What this leads to are really tight spreads which mean one score victories can yield handsome profits.
This week we have a couple of stand out picks. First up are the New Orleans Saints who host the Detroit Lions following a bye week while their opponents suffered a tough bruising defeat at home to the Panthers. Although the Lions have been consistent and hard to beat the Saints have found their mojo in the past three games so -3 looks a solid play against a team who have struggled with their running game to date. Drew Brees looks more than capable of putting up big numbers and lead his team to a solid home win.
Elsewhere two teams who have performed consistently well look set for another tick in the win column. The Kansas City Chiefs are 5-0 and have been in irrepressible form so far. They take on a wounded Steelers team who look stale and in need of a major shake up off and on the field. Big Ben is returning off the back of one of his worst ever displays against the Jaguars with five interceptions. The dynamic Chiefs should easily account for a -4 point start.
Finally Aaron Rodgers and Green Bay can follow up a fantastic come from behind victory against the Cowboys as they travel to take on the Minnesota Vikings. They matched the Cowboys high-scoring offense and came good down the stretch and it would be a shock if the talismanic Rodgers cannot see his team cover the -3 start. Although the Vikings defence offer a tough test, the Packers welcome back some more big players in their Offensive and Defensive line. Added to the Vikings struggle to put points on the board and this treble looks a rock solid proposition.
1pt treble @ 13/2 N.O. Saints -4.5 vs Lions, GB Packers -3 vs. Vikings & KC Chiefs -4 vs Steelers (Paddy Power)
