Lady Luck is nowhere to be seen, after wrestling with yesterday’s Pontefract sprint and siding with Muatadel over Van Gerwin, the race lasted about the 2 seconds it took our selection to stumble badly leaving the stalls, with Van Gerwin then naturally the easy winner.
We’ll head to one of the biggest courses in the land today. It’s a long hike to get to Exeter, and almost as long to do a lap of the course. The huge circuit lends itself to course specialism and we will be leaning on that today.
Umberto D’Olivate has six career wins, three at this course. His two wins last year came here and he will doubtless be up with the pace the whole way.
Bert lost his way towards the end of last season but that has helped his rating, and he has an excellent record after a break.
That best fresh, best at Exeter form must give him a chance and he looks overpriced in an open looking contest.
There are some tempting options at Newcastle tonight, but it is a course we have struggled to get success at. To quote Dirty Harry in Magnum Force “a man’s gotta know his own limitations”…we’ll settle for the Exeter speculation.
Recommendation: Umberto D’Olivate, (1520 Exeter), 1pt win, 12/1 Bet365
