Well that was a night to remember for blog followers and all at Lap Of The Odds as the Breeders Cup opened in a blaze of glory for us in Del Mar. (“Breeders Cup: O’Brien to continue plunder...”).
Initially the fast finishing runner-up spot for each way 20/1 pick Best Performance in the Fillies Juvenile was profitable but frustrating.
But then it all came together as first 18/1 pick Battle of Midway won the Dirt Mile, then confident 2pt 11/2 headline pick Mendelssohn lived up to expectations in the Juvenile, before a well timed surge from Forever Unbridled landed a 10/3 pick in the Distaff.
Three wins from four and a big priced runner up ensured a night of repeated collecting and the final reckoning was a red letter day.
A few subscribers apparently backed the combinations (including the over 400/1 SP treble of the three winners), and we are delighted to have lined a few pockets.
Many of the Breeders Cup main races are in tonight’s Del Mar card, so be sure to stay tuned for our preview later today.
